Virat Kohli’s ODI Runs: Racing to Second Spot

The all-time record for most runs in One-Day International cricket is held by Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. In 463 games, he has scored 18,426 runs. The legendary Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka, who has 14,234 runs in 404 games, comes next.

Another legend in Indian cricket, Virat Kohli, is getting closer to these records. Kohli needs

362 more runs to pass Sangakkara and take second place with 13,872 runs in 293 games. 

In ODI cricket, Kohli also needs 128 runs to get 14,000 points. This chance presents itself as India plays the second ODI of their current series against Sri Lanka.

After beating Sanath Jayasuriya’s 13,430 runs and Ricky Ponting’s 13,704 runs from the last ODI World Cup, Kohli has already shattered records.

With just 92 runs remaining, Kohli will become the fourth batsman in the history of international cricket to achieve 27,000 runs.
