The match against India presented a great opportunity for Australia as the 2021 champions failed to reach the semi-finals, but India defeated South Africa in the final and won the cup.
India’s victory came after jubilant celebrations at the Barbados stadium, in the dressing room and upon returning home.
The T20 World Champions were invited by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take part in an open-top bus parade at Marine Drive in Mumbai.
Hundreds of thousands of fans celebrated there with their heroes.
As victory loomed, Rohit was also impressed when the Indian skipper travelled to the US for a promotional event after a small family trip in England and was greeted with shouts of “Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Starc don’t stop”.
This was the fans’ way of telling the captain that they liked watching him beat the Australian captain. They would never forget the fun.
The scream immediately caught Rohit’s attention. He replied, “Relax, boys,” and then smiled on stage.

I think I had five bad balls and he hit them all for six.
