Praveen Jayawickrama Battled ICC Expenses Over Match-Fixing.

Praveen Jayawickrama, the 25-year-old spinner from Sri Lanka, has been charged with three breaches of the anti-corruption code, the Worldwide Cricket Council (ICC) announced on Thursday.

The charges stem from Jayawickrama’s failure to disclose a match-fixing strategy and obstructing an ongoing investigation.

In response to the ICC, Jayawickrama was approached to fix global matches during the 2021 Lanka Premier League season. In addition, he was required to schedule one additional participant to participate in match-fixing events during the identical event.

The ICC’s claim highlighted the seriousness of the costs in opposition to the junior spinner.

The ICC said in a notification that the Sri Lankan bowler “has allegedly been found to have deleted messages linked to a strategy to carry out corrupt practices,” as Reuters reported..

“Jayawickrama has 14 days from August 6, 2024 to answer the costs.”
